HRV naturally varies from day to day and is affected by:
- level of energy
- stress
- hormone levels
- state of mind
- mind chatter
- mood
- arousal
- quality and quantity of sleep the previous night
- time of day
- hydration status
- whether you drank alcohol
- used mood-altering substances
- blood sugar level
- type and amount of food you have eaten
All of the mentioned factors impact your results. What we recommend is to pay attention to the trend over time. If you training with Sens.ai at least 3 times a week (the ideal is 5 or more), then we recommend you make note of your HRV at the beginning and monitor the trend every few months. If your HRV is consistently low, we recommend using Calm Heart as your primer before training. Unlike wearable monitors, we are not sampling throughout the day.
